Now Weight Loss Surgery also for Older and Higher Risk Patients for a longer healthy life

Weight loss surgeries in Dubai has been quite successful all around the world for weight loss, but it has also great benefit when it comes to long term survival specially in the highly obese and at a high risk of getting lots of other obesity related complications. A recent report suggests that weight loss surgeries like gastric bypass and gastric band surgery in Dubai, has been quite helpful in elongating the life of people who at higher risk due to obesity and Diabetes in Dubai.

Researchers compared 2,500 obese patients who had weight loss surgery to about 7,500 obese patients who did not. All of the volunteers were receiving care at Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers. The researchers has been doing this observational study for over a 14-year span. They found Patients who had weight loss surgery, 74 percent of them men had a mean body mass index (BMI) of 47 and a mean age of 52. In the control group, the mean BMI was 46 and the mean age was 53. Fifty-five percent had diabetes, while there are lots of patients have high blood pressure, arthritis, heart disease.

Compared to those who did not have the procedure, obese patients who had weight loss surgery had a 53 percent lower risk of dying from any cause 5 to 14 years after the surgery. The surgeries covered included weight loss procedures like gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric band surgery, and other bariatric procedures.

The researcher tracked a large group of patients for a long enough time and there was a strong link found between weight loss surgery and long-term survival. The research conclusion says as the time passes, the risk of dying among the patients who’ve had surgery appears to be diverging from those who haven’t had surgery.
